Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed has drawn a sharp distinction between his political views and those of his prominent supporter, Senator Bernie Sanders. Asked how he differs from the democratic socialist, El-Sayed declared that he is not a socialist and believes in capitalism. He argued that the United States operates under corporatism rather than genuine free-market competition, pointing to the dominance of a handful of major corporations. His remarks came as Sanders campaigned in support of his Senate bid, highlighting their differences on economic ideology despite their shared political priorities.
