In a landmark acknowledgment, Canada's intelligence agency CSIS has publicly stated that Canada-based Khalistani extremists were responsible for the 1985 bombing of Air India Flight 182, also known as the Kanishka tragedy. The attack killed all 329 people on board and remains the deadliest terrorist incident in Canadian history. The statement marks the first time in more than four decades that a Canadian security agency has explicitly attributed responsibility to Khalistani extremists.
