Horatti resigns as Karnataka Legislative Council chairman, clears way for Saleem Ahmed - The Economic Times
Karnataka Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti resigned on Friday, clearing the way for senior Congress MLC Saleem Ahmed to take over the Cabinet-rank post. The AICC nominated Ahmed after he missed out on a ministerial berth in the recent Cabinet expansion. The Council is expected to elect veteran actor-politician Umashree as Deputy Chairperson on August 14, followed by the election for the Chairmans post.
