Congress leader and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of undermining democracy and alleged “vote chori” during the sixth edition of ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ in Chennai. Gandhi likened Modi to Mogambo, the villain played by Amrish Puri in the 1987 film Mr India, as a scene featuring Modi’s superimposed face appeared behind him. He also warned that Modi would “pay for the crimes he has committed against the country”. Referring to the Delhi protests, Gandhi alleged that students had been beaten by police personnel and BJP workers, urging young people not to fear and promising justice.
