A Russian drone attack near the Polish border forced a special train carrying former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s adviser Günter Sautter and other senior European figures to stop. Conductors reportedly instructed passengers to prepare for an emergency evacuation after a drone alert. The order was subsequently cancelled, and the train continued towards Poland. It was not directly struck. The emergency was triggered after a separate Kyiv–Warsaw passenger train was reportedly hit along the same railway corridor, approximately two kilometres from Poland. No casualties were reported. There is no evidence that Moscow knew the senior delegation was travelling through the area or deliberately targeted its train. But the incident has raised alarm because the corridor is routinely used by Western leaders and officials visiting Kyiv—and because the attack occurred almost on NATO’s doorstep.
