The conflict in Yemen is escalating once again after the Houthis claimed they shot down another Saudi-operated drone over Saada Province, the group's main stronghold. Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea identified the aircraft as a Turkish-made Karyal reconnaissance drone, alleging it was conducting "hostile operations" when it was brought down. The claim comes just days after the Houthis said they had downed a Saudi-operated Turkish-made Bayraktar Akıncı armed reconnaissance drone over Al-Jawf Province. The latest development follows the Houthis' announcement of a maritime ban on Saudi-linked shipping in the Red Sea, a move that has heightened tensions and led to a fresh exchange of military strikes between the two sides.
