Austin "AJ" Scott James has emerged as another hero from the deadly Twin Falls, Idaho, mass shooting. While Jordan Salinas confronted the gunman with his firearm, the off-duty trooper ran toward the sound of gunfire after telling his wife to stay back. According to a fundraiser created for his recovery, James deliberately chose not to draw his weapon to avoid being mistaken for the suspect by responding officers. He was then shot by alleged gunman Chad Williams, suffering life-threatening injuries, but reportedly continued distracting the shooter so others could escape.
