What would you do? My closest friend keeps joking about my weight in front of everyone; Here's what these 4 women did about it

“Arre, she’s on a diet…again.” “Hey, we're ordering starters, not feeding the entire table.” The comment lasts barely five seconds. The laughter lasts ten. But for many women, the discomfort stays much longer. Weight jokes between friends are often dismissed as harmless teasing. They're wrapped in affection, packaged as humor, and defended with phrases like, "Yaar, it’s just a joke." However, when the same joke is repeated often enough, it can quietly affect confidence, friendships, and even the way women see themselves. So what do you do when the person hurting your feelings is also the person you trust the most? We asked four women what they actually did when a close friend kept joking about their weight in public, again and again. What they told us says less about the jokes themselves, and more about how long we let the people we love get away with hurting us.
