Updating Standards for Systematic Reviews

How can systematic reviews that inform health care decisions keep pace with new methods, emerging technologies, and the need for timely, trustworthy evidence? Discussions during a webinar series explored topics including the value of systematic reviews to end users, research integrity issues, meaningful interest-holder engagement, perspectives from sponsoring organizations, and recent advances in evidence synthesis. Participants also covered the growing use of AI across the systematic review workflow, including questions of validation, reproducibility, transparency, and human responsibility. Speakers considered strategies for balancing rigor with the need for more timely evidence and the infrastructure and investment needed to support high-quality, actionable systematic reviews to inform health care decision making. This Proceedings of a Webinar Series-in Brief summarizes the presentations and discussions from the event.
