BREAKING: America's Nuclear Sub Commander Fired; 'Loss Of Confidence' After Iran Crisis - Times of India Videos

The US Navy has abruptly removed Commander Joseph Sammur as commanding officer of the USS West Virginia’s Blue Crew, citing a “loss of confidence in his ability to command.” Sammur assumed leadership of the Ohio-class ballistic-missile submarine crew in August 2025 and was dismissed less than a year later. The Navy has not identified any specific incident, disciplinary allegation or security breach behind the decision, and there is no public indication that Sammur has been charged with an offence. The USS West Virginia carries Trident II ballistic missiles and forms part of the sea-based component of America’s nuclear triad, making command of its crew one of the Navy’s most sensitive positions. There is no evidence supporting speculation involving espionage or foreign adversaries. But when the officer entrusted with part of America’s nuclear deterrent is suddenly removed and officials decline to explain why, the silence becomes part of the story. Watch.
