Bombay HC Sets Aside Death Sentence Of Man Convicted In 2016 Physiotherapist Rape-Murder Case
The Bombay High Court has quashed the conviction and death sentence of Debashish Dhara in the 2016 rape-murder of a 24-year-old physiotherapist in Mumbai and ordered his release. Dhara was convicted in 2019 after the sessions court termed the crime a “rarest of rare” case. The High Court ruling came while hearing the Maharashtra government’s death-sentence confirmation case.
