The United States has completed the withdrawal of all American troops from Iraq, bringing an end to a 12-year military mission focused on fighting the Islamic State group. The final U.S. troops have left an air base in northern Iraq under an agreement reached between Washington and Baghdad two years ago. President Donald Trump welcomed the withdrawal, describing it as a victory for both Washington and Baghdad. “It’s a victory for the United States, it’s a victory for Iraq and a decisive victory over ISIS, which has been completely decimated.”
