Newly released FBI documents have revived scrutiny of former Congressman Eric Swalwell’s relationship with Christine Fang, also known as “Fang Fang,” who was investigated by U.S. authorities as a suspected Chinese intelligence operative. The files say Swalwell told investigators that he and Fang “hooked up” and had physical relations on multiple occasions, including one encounter after he had taken Ambien. Swalwell’s attorney says the documents contain “nothing new” and argues that the old investigation is being repackaged for political retaliation.
