Help shape our success
QA & Platform Specialist
Full-time - Berlin - Linux - macOS - Digital Signage
We are ~sedna. For over 25 years, we’ve been bringing screens to life and deliver unforgettable audiovisual moments that touch and inspire — seamlessly, dynamically and precisely delivering digital content to any type of display, from small formats to impressive large-scale projects, down to the last pixel.
We're looking for a versatile QA & Platform Specialist to own quality, hardware validation, and technical support across our digital signage platform. This is a role for someone who thinks like a detective, communicates like a human, and cares deeply about getting things right — from the first test case to the last display output at a customer site.
About the job
- You will be part of the quality assurance team of our platform — designing and running tests, qualifying hardware, and making sure everything we ship performs flawlessly on Linux and macOS. When customers run into trouble, you're also the person who helps them get back on track, and makes sure what you learn flows back into the product.
- Design, build and maintain manual and automated test suites for Linux and macOS deployments
- Reproduce, analyze and document issues with the precision and care that makes the developers' lives easier
- Evaluate and qualify player hardware, displays, and peripherals — maintaining compatibility matrices and reference setups
- Diagnose and resolve hardware-level issues (drivers, firmware, GPU config, display output) in the lab and remotely
- Provide first-line technical support for customers and partners via helpdesk, phone, and email
- Install our systems on customer sites world-wide
- Onboard new customers, deliver end-user training, and build out the public knowledge base
- Identify recurring issues and route them to QA, product management, or development with clean, well-structured reports
- Keep an eye on the hardware market — GPUs, mini-PCs, industrial boards — and flag what's relevant
What you bring / Must-haves:
- Solid experience in software testing — applications, web, or platform-level
- Confident with Linux and macOS at both user and system level (logs, SSH, shell)
- Hands-on hardware debugging experience: BIOS/UEFI, peripherals, driver troubleshooting
- Understanding of display technologies: HDMI, DisplayPort, EDID, resolutions, refresh rates
- Strong communication skills in English and German — written and spoken
- A structured, detail-oriented approach and the drive to follow things through
Nice to have:
- Familiarity with performance or regression testing
- Networks: VLANs, switches and WiFi configuration, PoE
- Remote access tools: TeamViewer, AnyDesk, SSH tunneling
- Scripting in Bash or Python for test automation
- Helpdesk tool experience
About you
- You're a team player who also knows how to own a problem independently
- You thrive in a collaborative, low-bureaucracy environmen
- You're curious about hardware, software, and the messy intersection of the two
- You communicate clearly — with developers, customers, and everyone in between
- You have zero prestige — we all learn and grow together
What we offer
- A permanent full-time position
- The opportunity to develop your skills and learn new ones
- State-of-the-art technical equipment / ergonomic workstation
- A modern office in the heart of Berlin with bike and car parking spaces
- Fruit and drinks, and a large kitchen for cooking together
