Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan have announced a major upgrade in Canada-Türkiye ties, launching a new strategic partnership spanning trade, defence, energy and security.Standing alongside Erdogan in Ankara, Carney declared that the global system is undergoing a historic rupture, warning that “the old order will not return” and that institutions which supported security and prosperity for decades are now under threat. He said Canada must take greater control of its economic, energy and security future while building deeper ties with trusted partners.
