London stockbroker Nicholas Winton took on a rescue mission in 1938 after witnessing the worsening plight of refugees in Prague. He helped organise the escape of 669 children, most of them Jewish, to Britain before the outbreak of World War II. Despite the scale of his efforts, Winton rarely spoke about the operation, and his role remained largely unknown for decades.
