Ask a hundred people what Pan African means, and you’ll hear a hundred warm, hopeful definitions. Inspiring, yes, but rarely actionable. When we set out to build the Pan African AI Summit (PAAIS), we made an early, almost stubborn decision. Treat Pan African not as a feeling but as a specification. If we were going to include it in our name, it had to instruct us, constrain us, and tell us exactly what to do on an ordinary Tuesday morning, the 22nd of September 2026. The specification we arrived at has five parts. We set them out here not as a verdict on anyone, but as an invitation. If these are the right tests of a Pan African gathering, then hold us to them in September.
