Amid continuous heavy rainfall in the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh, dam authorities in Mandi and Kullu districts have intensified public safety alerts as rising reservoir levels are forcing periodic releases of water into the Beas and Parbati rivers. The authorities have cautioned residents, tourists, workers and visitors to remain away from riverbanks during the monsoon season, as sudden increases in river discharge can create dangerous conditions downstream.
