A French video game store worker who went viral for defying rioters has spoken exclusively to The Independent as protests erupt across the country again. Pierre, a sales assistant at Micromania in Nice, was praised after footage showed him trying to protect his workplace from looters during protests last week. Pierre spoke to The Independent from Nice on Saturday (24 October), as protests broke out in France for a second weekend in a row. After fake fundraisers reportedly appeared online, Pierre launched an official fundraiser to support himself and his colleagues as they face an uncertain future. Despite widespread praise, Pierre remains humble: “I'm not a hero. I'm just a normal guy who wants to work.”
