Echoen is the new music project of Swiss songwriter Benjamin Schenk from Basel. Raised on the emotional weight and atmosphere of early 2000s alternative music, Schenk never really connected to fast-moving trends or polished perfection. What stayed with him were songs that felt honest — songs that carried longing, distance, hope and melancholy in a way that words alone often cannot. Instead of writing music for algorithms or short attention spans, Echoen follows a different path. The project is built around feelings, atmosphere and instinct. Some songs grow from a simple guitar picking idea, others from memories, inner conflicts or the feeling of standing between different versions of life. The result is a sound that feels intimate and cinematic at the same time — shaped by shimmering guitars, fragile tension and a deep addiction for melody. While influences from bands like Muse, Coldplay, Keane, Placebo or Feeder can sometimes be felt between the lines, Echoen is not trying to recreate the past. The music comes from a personal place and follows its own emotional logic rather than current expectations. All songs are written, recorded and produced entirely by Schenk himself. Echoen’s debut single “As If I Long to Fall” marks the beginning of a first full-length album currently in production.
