The Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department has initiated an inquiry into alleged irregularities in the execution of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) works and the supply of raw material in Kamnala gram panchayat in carrying out these works. Besides, the alleged unauthorised allotment of shops owned by the Nurpur Panchayat Samiti at Jassur will also be probed. A three-member inquiry committee constituted on September 11 has started a detailed probe into the allegations. The committee, headed by Sub-Divisional Officer, Nurpur, Vijay Panjala, has been directed to submit its report within 15 days.
