Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Friday directed the Health Department to promote research in medical colleges and strengthen healthcare services in the state. Sukhu, while presiding over a meeting of the department in Shimla, said that research in the medical sector was of paramount importance. He announced that a dedicated research department would be established at the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) and Hospital, Shimla, in the first phase, with similar facilities to be set up in other medical colleges in the state later.
