Ordinance issued to increase number of Supreme Court judges from 34 to 38 - The Economic Times

The government has increased the Supreme Court's judge strength. An ordinance now allows for 38 judges, up from 34. This includes the Chief Justice of India. The law ministry notified the change on Saturday. Parliament will consider a bill to make this a permanent law. The Supreme Court currently has two vacancies.
