Holding candles and "ICE OUT" signs, mourners remembered Salgado Araujo as a hardworking father while demanding transparency into the events surrounding the deadly July 7 immigration enforcement operation. His sons spoke emotionally about their father's life and revealed the family has still not received his personal belongings, including his phone, wallet and lunchbox. The vigil comes as questions continue over the shooting, with ICE maintaining that Salgado Araujo attempted to evade arrest and struck an agency vehicle before an agent opened fire. The case remains under investigation.
