A devastating fire at a coaching-cum-animation centre in Lucknow's Aliganj area claimed at least 15 lives, most of them students, and left several others injured. The blaze erupted around 3 pm in a three-storey commercial building on Usha Mehta Marg and spread rapidly, trapping occupants inside. Witnesses reported students jumping from the building to escape thick smoke and flames. Fourteen fire tenders, including a hydraulic platform, were deployed as rescue teams battled the fire and evacuated victims. Several pets housed in a ground-floor animal clinic also died in the blaze. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced ex-gratia compensation, while Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered a high-level probe into the tragedy and vowed strict action against those responsible.
