Pressemitteilung: XENETA WEEKLY OCEAN CONTAINER SHIPPING MARKET UPDATE - 30.7.2026 / Ocean container spot rates hold steady in a pause before peak season. Xeneta's Peter Sand on why carriers are ready to add capacity but shippers aren't asking. The Xeneta Weekly Ocean Container Shipping Market Update provides data and intelligence including the latest freight rate and capacity movements across global trades with supporting insight from Peter Sand, Xeneta Chief Analyst. Xeneta analyst insight Peter Sand, Xeneta Chief Analyst: “Carriers are surely ready to deploy more capacity into the main trade lanes, but shippers aren’t asking for it right now – certainly not on any trade besides Far East to US East Coast, where our rates seem to be sticky at a quite high level. “For the market as such, it seems as if we are in a pause before the real peak season starts. Some shippers may have moved cargo earlier than previously, but it’s not like everybody front-loaded, not in the US nor into Europe. “Rates have been moving sideways from a week ago, across the board. “Early indications for the start of August suggest markets into Europe are probably going down, while we anticipate rates into the US – whether coming from Asia or North Europe – to go up. No large swings altogether.” (....)
