AS El Nino threatened with a scant monsoon, the Monsoon Session of Parliament started with the threat of bringing back the controversial Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-Ninth Amendment) Bill, 2024, generally referred to as the ONOE (One Nation, One Election) Bill. The fact that it was referred to a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) in a Parliament that specialises in making laws with lightning speed, shows the governments rare attempt to build consensus on a Bill lacking an agreed purpose.
