PETA India Raises Concerns Regarding Nandini Math’s Announcement Of Elephant Madhuri’s Return; Files Objection Against Nandini Math’s Application To SC-Appointed Committee
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has filed an application before a Supreme Court-appointed High Power Committee opposing the return of elephant Madhuri to a Kolhapur Jain math. The 36-year-old tusker was shifted to Vantara in Gujarat in 2025 for rehabilitation after allegations of neglect. PETA argues Madhuri needs continued medical care and should remain at the facility.
