Iran says American forces have carried out a fresh strike on its territory, targeting the Konarak naval base on the country’s southeastern coast and wounding two Iranian servicemen. According to Iran’s Navy, the US military used “two light projectiles” against the facility in Sistan and Baluchestan province, targeting a 35mm naval cannon. The Iranian account indicates the immediate damage was limited, but the location gives the incident wider significance. Konarak sits near Chabahar on the Gulf of Oman, east of the Strait of Hormuz. Iran recently announced an expanded naval deployment posture stretching from Hormuz into the Gulf of Oman and Arabian Sea, while warning that it intends to push American naval forces farther from its coastline. Tehran has also repeatedly warned that renewed US attacks could trigger retaliation against American forces and interests across the region. Iran’s account therefore puts renewed attention on whether and how Tehran responds to the reported strike.#iran #unitedstates #konarak #usiran #iranNavy #centcom #hormuz #gulfofoman #tehran #usmilitary
