The Lok Sabha on Wednesday passed the Bankers’ Book Evidence Bill, 2026, by voice vote within four minutes amid protest and sloganeering by the Opposition benches, without any debate.The Bill was moved by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and was passed amid disruptions in the House. With this, five Bills have been cleared by the Lok Sabha so far without debate during the ongoing monsoon session. The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, has been an exception as the legislation witnessed detailed discussions from both the treasury and opposition benches.
