FCRA Bill sent to JPC, Imran Khan access row, India rejects China’s Arunachal claims - India Today

The Lok Sabha referred the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) Amendment Bill to a 31-member Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) for detailed scrutiny following parliamentary debates. The proposed legislation introduces oversight, transparency, and compliance regulations for foreign funding received by non-governmental organisations, trusts, and associations in India. The government presented the measure to regulate foreign contributions, which reached 2.67 billion dollars in 2024-2025, while opposition parties raised concerns over executive authority and regulatory provisions. India's Ambassador to the United States, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, rejected international criticism regarding the bill. In regional affairs, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders demanded access to former Prime Minister Imran Khan at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, threatening nationwide protests. Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs addressed tensions along the Line of Actual Control in Arunachal Pradesh, naming 27 geographical locations and rejecting objections from Beijing while reaffirming the territory as an integral part of India.
