I remember recommendations in ~2009-12. There was list of recommended artists (50 or 100), based on what's already in user's library. The script was most likely simple and based on recent favourites and artist similarity. Nowadays it's just 12 artists recommended on the main page. Albums and tracks recommendations contain entries I've listened to, either few times or hundreds of times. I've prompted a tool that uses API that does the old thing.
