Pressemitteilung: Battery electric car market share in Europe reaches 31% in September / Europe’s BEV registrations increased by 69% in September compared with the same month last year. Berlin, 23 Oct — Fully electric cars accounted for three in 10 new cars sold in Europe (including the EU, Norway, and Iceland) in September. Sales rose 69% compared with the same period last year. Germany and France recorded sharp increases of 95% and 108%, respectively. Spain also saw strong growth, with sales rising by 71%. September registrations confirm an accelerating adoption of battery electric vehicles across Europe, driven by a combination of factors. While the CO2 targets are pushing carmakers to invest in electrification and ramp up production, a growing range of electric models is meeting strong consumer demand. Rising oil prices and national incentives are further encouraging buyers to switch to electric. Among the region’s largest markets, Germany and France reached record monthly BEV market shares of 35% and 42%, respectively. Spain also hit another record with a market share of 18%. Italy and Poland remained behind these markets with 8% and 6%, respectively. (....)
