Western Railway Undertakes First-Ever Mechanised Ballast Cleaning On Suburban Platform Track At Dadar Station
Western Railway conducted mechanised ballast cleaning for the first time at Dadar's platform 3, using a modified BCM-777. Officials said contaminated ballast and poor drainage can weaken track stability. Engineers shifted the track and removed obstructions before cleaning, then restored it with tamping and stabilisation equipment to improve safety on Mumbai's network of over 1,450 daily services.
