The glass-skin obsession: Can Indian skin really achieve that mirror-like glow?
Online, glass skin is usually shown as flawless, with no pores, no visible texture, and an almost mirror-like finish. Real skin just doesn't work that way. Even healthy skin has pores, some texture, and the occasional blemish. For Indian consumers, it's more useful to think of the trend as skin that looks hydrated, smooth, and even-toned, while still dealing with pigmentation, acne, oiliness, dehydration, and everyday things like heat, humidity, pollution, and sun exposure. A lot of Indian skin runs oily to combination, so trying to get that glass-skin look through heavy layering or rich moisturisers can easily backfire into congestion or breakouts.Malini Adapureddy, Founder & CEO of Deconstruct, says, “The better approach is to understand what your skin actually needs and stick to gentle, science-backed actives, rather than piling on products chasing a flawless finish.”
