Deep beneath Japan’s Ryukyu Islands, where cave waters run without sunlight, two tiny shrimp-like crustaceans have been identified as species new to science. The animals belong to the groundwater-dwelling genus Bogidiella, a group known for living in caves, wells and other hidden aquatic environments.
