Marco Rubio struck a notably cautious tone on the Ukraine war at the G20 foreign ministers’ meeting, saying he does not know whether a negotiated peace between Russia and Ukraine is achievable.Asked directly whether a settlement was possible, Rubio said:“I don’t know if negotiated peace is achievable in Ukraine. That’s what we’re trying to find out.”He also pushed back against any suggestion that an agreement was close, adding that “no one here is claiming that we’re on the verge of a negotiated settlement.”
