Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has accused the BJP of trying to topple the National Conference-led government by allegedly attempting to engineer defections among its MLAs. Addressing a party convention in Srinagar, Abdullah claimed a BJP office-bearer offered one of his party legislators from Jammu between Rs 20 crore and Rs 30 crore, a ministerial berth and the promise of statehood in return for support. He asserted that no NC MLA would compromise their integrity for money. National Conference president Farooq Abdullah also alleged attempts to split the party. The BJP has strongly rejected the allegations, calling them baseless and politically motivated. BJP leaders Ravinder Raina and Sofi Yousuf accused Omar Abdullah of trying to divert attention from internal discontent within his party.
