Opinion - When Mustafa Mohammed Omer emerged as the face of political change in 2018, the Somali region was desperate for a new beginning. His rise followed the dramatic removal of Abdi Iley, whose administration had become synonymous with repression, arbitrary detention and grave allegations of human rights abuses.
