Violent clashes between police and protesters were caught on camera in Brussels and Turin, Italy, on October 24, as demonstrations over education conditions, rising living costs and government policies intensified across Europe. Footage from Brussels showed officers hitting and kicking a protester as others fled, while demonstrators attempted to barricade a road and set objects on fire. In Turin, protesters hurled objects at riot police, who responded with baton charges. The unrest comes as Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's government tightens security following riots in Milan, while students, truck drivers and other groups protest economic pressures across several European countries.
